This is how it works:

I selected one of my unpublished (never released) compositions and I reduced it down to the bare idea that was my starting point, the one I had in mind before writing all the other parts. This "spark" has just enough flavor to get the next musicians started.

I will send the track to musicians of my choice and from that point forward, I am a passenger.

The project will start with just ONE source file named GI1.

This file will be sent simultaneously to several musicians located across the globe. Each instance labeled GI1-1, GI1-2 and so forth.

The organization will follow the model of a TRUNK with BRANCHES.

GI1 (Trunk 1)

  • GI1-1 (Branch 1)
    • GI1-1-1   (Track 1)
    • GI1-1-2   (Track 2)
    • GI1-1-3   (Track 3)
  • GI1-2 (Branch 2)
    • GI1-2-1
    • GI1-2-2
    • GI1-2-3
    • GI1-2-4
  • GI1-3 (Branch 3)
    • GI1-3-1
    • GI1-3-2
    • ...

Using this method I will document every time a new musician joins one of the branches and how each individual branch will evolve. This structure will also permit for a new branch to be started at any point.

By the time you read this the project will be in motion.

I will act as ground zero, collecting and documenting our social adventure and making it public via the website, keeping track of the multiple versions, the musicians, the locations and all the stories we collect as we go along. I will provide methods for our community to grow, for friends to reunite and for new connections to be made.

If you received this track, it means that someone I profoundly respect and admire feels the same about you. By joining this initiative, you join me on an adventure where rather than exercising control over every detail involved in writing and producing a song, we will trust that each of us will bring forward musical maturity to let the song grow and benefit from the multiplicity of musical backgrounds each musician brings aboard.

As I already stated, this initiative is about giving space and respect, about creation, choice, collaboration and many more qualities that will only become clear as we move along.

The original song I composed will only be revealed at the end. You have the freedom to create without the influence or confinement of the original.
