Hello and welcome!

The idea for this project was born in a small town nestled in the Utah mountains, where I live. One evening sitting in my living room with a glass of Malbec the germ of an idea started to take shape in my head… with every sip of wine, the concept for Song Initiative grew.

I was thinking about my journey as a musician. Throughout the years, I made friends who taught me a thing or two, I had teachers who became friends, and I met professionals who showed me tricks that were not in the school books. I traveled around the world and pulled back the curtains to many preconceived ideas I had about people, culture, food, music, politics, economics. I became particularly aware about the influence one has on the other forming the ties that bind us.

I sat with all of these memories that evening in my living room and I clearly understood I had changed on a fundamental level as a result of my interactions and exchanges, and had the same, if not similar, affect on those whose path I crossed. I started on this journey to becoming a musician and in the process I learned more than only music.

In that moment and since, I have had a profound desire to engage and create music with the musicians from my past and expand my experiences with musicians I have yet to meet.

Song Initiative is a song writing project.
I will send out one track to a musician and ask him/her to add a track and send it forward, selecting another musician to join in and that person would do the same, each new entry composing the song. In the process we will be connecting friends, making new ones, crossing borders and time zones - having fun!

This initiative is about giving space and respect, about creation , choice, collaboration and many more qualities that will only become clear as we move along.
